I’m a cookie baking maniac today. Well, I shouldn’t say “I”, since my sweet and spicy lil’ lady has been elbows deep in dough and frosting with me. Literally, I turned around for 2 seconds and she was practically bathing in the batter – oops! Anyway, we (the two baking maniacs) are having a blast, nonetheless. And, that’s with a HUGE (like gigantic) thank you to the fabulous Foodstirs team.
This week something big happened in my life (let’s just say I turned a number that falls somewhere after 39 and before 41) – and, right around the same time I received this most adorable package from Foodstirs.
The cookie gods must be listening to my prayers. Or, maybe Foodstirs is just that awesome that they didn’t even know it was my birthday and sent me something that felt like a present from my bestie.
WHO IS FOODSTIRS?

I should probably mention that Foodstirs was founded by mamas, Galit Laibow and Sarah Michelle Gellar, who believe the heart (and stomach!) of every family can be found in the kitchen. I’m going to go ahead and say YES to that!
- All mixes are organic, GMO-free and free of artiricial stuff (preservatives, dyes & flavors)
- Kits can be purchased on their own in the shop or choose from a 1, 3, 6 or 12 month subscription
IN THE BOX
We received not one, but TWO fabulous baking kits from the Foodstirs crew: The Blooming Basket Cookie Baking Kit (avail. here for $19.99) and well, I can’t tell you what the other one was yet because it’s a super top secret cookie baking secret (follow up post coming SOON).
I also received this ADORABLE tee (which I’m wearing as I type because I’m a total whisk taker and I’m totally obsessed). Grab yours: HERE (for $15 bucks)
Okay, let’s talk about these Blooming Basket cookies because I’m literally eating one right now and it’s SO. GOOD.
My favorite thing about the Foodstirs baking kits is that they pretty much come with EVERYTHING you need to create an awesome baking adventure with your kiddos. For both recipes, all we needed to have on hand was eggs, milk, butter and greek or plain yogurt (all of which we already had in our kitchen).
And, I mean, you need to have some kitchen tools too. It’s not like they’re sending you a mixer or anything. BUT, they do provide a handy-dandy lil’ graphic inclusive of all the tools you need.
Graphics come in handy for busy mamas like me who may or may not have a crazy three year old scribbling with permanent blue marker on her couch (if you look closesly in the pic above, you’ll see her fancy artwork in real life – right beneath the powdered baking goods).
IN THE KITCHEN
My girl and I tore open the box and got straight to prep. We took about 37 hours opening the butter…because someone had to do it “all by myself”.
The recipe cards made it super easy to bake our cookies. We measured, mixed, squished and rolled until those bad boys were ready to set in the freezer for 20 minute rest. While we waited, we started prepping our decorations and paused to eat almost all of the jellybeans 🙂
Next up was rolling out the dough, cutting the cookies and popping them in the oven for 15 minutes. One of us (possibly me) impatiently stared at the cookies through the oven window the ENTIRE TIME THEY BAKED. What is wrong with me? ha!
Awesome tip I learned while waiting though…the cookies spread a ton when they baked, so as per the handy-dandy card provided by Foodstirs, we re-cut the egg shapes once the cookies came out of the oven. Um, GENIUS idea. And even more genius is eating the scraps you cut off while you’re decorating 🙂
Alas, the finished goodies. Have you ever tried to decorate an egg-shaped cookie like an Easter basket alongside a three year old? Well, the finished product below, will show how “easy” that process was. But guess what? She loved every second of this adventure, and so did I.
A BAKING KIT FOR YOU!
If I could send you these cookies through the internet so you could taste them I would. Just kidding. I’m a total cookie hoarder and already ate almost all of them.
Thankfully Foodstirs has plenty of sweet lil’ baking kits to solve that problem, including this Movie Night Kit which is pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
