Grandma’s in town! And, that means two things: Mama gets a break from all of her parental duties and puts granny to work (hee-hee-hee) and…cookies. Cookies happened.
You might not know this, but my mom is pretty much the best cookie baker in the land. Every Christmas she bakes like 82,000 varieties of Italian cookies and they are insane good. It’s a tradition that’s been in my fam for many years…I used to bake with my Grandma and my mom when I was my little lady’s age and now, she get’s to bake with hers (sniff..sniff…sorry, just wiping some sentimental tears away while I eat cookies).
Last month I posted a little cookie adventure my sweet pea and I went on thanks to Foodstirs (and their Blooming Basket Cookie Baking Kit!). Well, today we went on another adventure (with another ADORABLE baking kit from the Foodstirs fam) and we asked Grandma to join us. And, by “join us” I mean, I put the oldest and youngest members of the household to work in the kitchen while I took photos and ate cookie dough 🙂

THE BAKING KIT
We received the Darling Daisy Cookie Bouquet (which you can grab here for $19.99). The kit includes everything you need to make a sweet organic cookie bouquet and flower pot DIY. And, it just started shipping on April 15th, so this baby is brand new !
The Foodstirs kits come with everything you need (well, just about) to bake their delish organic cookies. You provide the kitchen, a few ingredients (like eggs, milk & butter), and some serious baking skills. Just kidding, you could be a total novice baker and create these yums super easily.
BAKING WITH GAMMY
I pretend I have the baking gene, but I can never replicate the cookies the way my mama makes em’. So, instead of baking these gorgeous lil’ flowers on my own, I put granny to work!
The index cards included in the box make it super easy to follow with step by step mixing, baking and decorating instructions.
My mama took a few civil liberties (I mean she IS in fact the original Baking Queen) as we baked. For example, we didn’t put the dough in the freezer in between mixing and rolling. We just threw caution to the wind and rolled that dough at room temperature. Such rebels!
I joke a lot but it was actually pretty magical being an observer in my kitchen today. Watching my mom and my sweet baby girl bonding together over cookies gave me so many feels…and rekindled so many memories from when I was a little girl with my own Grandma. Sniff..Sniff.
Look at the funky little smile – Toddlers are like Chia Pets with the way their teeth “grow back” after a big fall! Cookies help 🙂
After we (and when I say “we”, I totally mean them because I was off-duty) cut out all the flowers as per the instructions, we stuck em’ on the sticks, baked them and let them cool.
Some tips for this kit: The sticks are not as easy as you would think to affix to the cookies. As you may recall, we skipped a few steps which might be why we struggled a bit in that department. Maybe rolling out thicker cookies (and actually following the rules) would be useful here. Also, we found the dye to be super muted (not as shown in the index card) so we added a bit of our own coloring to brighten it up!
The finished product? Bellissimo! I jumped in and finished up the decorating, because…well, that’s my favorite part and also because my child was eating the sugar crystals like she her survival required it.
I seriously can’t believe I got this bouquet to work. But, with a little patience and after eating a whole lot of icing (OMG, the icing was SO SO good), I made it happen with minor damage.
And, the cookies were absolutely incredible. Were (past tense). Most of them are resting comfortably in our bellies now.
