I’m coffeeing my face off again and loving every single second of it!  And, today of all days I need it because there is one person in this house that never, ever sleeps and that is moi.

It’s not like I don’t want to sleep – I do, but I get excited about staying up late and acting like an actual grown up once my THREEnager goes to bed and then when I actually do want to go to sleep, I’m tossing and turning because my pillow feels like an impostor and my blanket has abandoned me in the cold.  And, while I’m pretty sure I don’t need to state the obvious here, we all know what happens the second you do fall asleep in situations like this (yes, I’m talkin’ to you alarm…you filthy animal).

Okay, let’s talk coffee.  Because it’s legit the only thing saving me from falling asleep as I type this very minute and the peeps over at Bean Box sent us the most delicious coffee eva.

THE ROASTS

The folks over at Bean Box know how to captivate their audience from the second the box arrives. Our box(es) were delivered on a Saturday, so I was able to grab them from our doorstep right away.  And, the second I opened up the protective shipping bag the boxes were in, the aroma of the coffee was so strong and intoxicating, we literally opened the box, ground some beans and brewed a pot right then and there.  And that’s how it’s done.

Their coffee is super fresh (brewed within just a couple of days of sending it to us) – probably why the boxes smelled so delish when they arrived!I'm reviewing the amazing Bean Box coffee subscription on the blog!

Bean Box sent us not one, but two of their Bean Box Sampler boxes to try:  Dark Roasts and Medium Roasts (both, right up our alley). Dark Roasts were first on the agenda.

The first batch we tried was the  VASHON ISLAND COFFEE ROASTERIE Midnight Blend. We were super drawn to the mention of a slight smokey edge with a Chardonnay richness.  I mean, it was early afternoon and we parent a toddler so why wouldn’t we want to be drinking coffee that tastes like wine?  Verdict?  Amazing.  This coffee was so smooth and unlike any other I’ve tried.  They couldn’t have written a more accurate explanation of the flavors!

Speaking of our toddler, she got in on the action too.  No, we didn’t let her drink coffee, but we did let her help us prepare it.

And, she returned the favor by completely sabotaging my photo shoot.

I mean…is that not the face of a child whose only ambition in life is to test your boundaries and make your heart melt simultaneously or what? I'm reviewing the amazing Bean Box coffee subscription on the blog!

Okay, back to coffee.  Next – not, like immediately following, but the following day, we tried the CAFFE UMBRIA Arco Etrusco which boasted a fudgy body, with a carmelized sugar sweetness and smokey, stout-like finish.  I’m starting to sense a theme here in what we like.  Are you?

This blend was one of my faves in the bunch.  Not like there were any that we didn’t like.  No exaggeration they were all so, so good.  But, this one really hit the sweet spot, literally and when we drank it, we felt like we were being rewarded by the coffee gods for being such awesome coffee drinkers.

The rest of the dark roasts included: LIGHTHOUSE ROASTERS French Sumatra and FUNDAMENTAL Guatamala Antigua Acate, both intriguing flavors we can’t wait to taste!  Once we get to sampling these bad boys, we’ll share our thoughts on Facebook & Twitter!

Next up, Medium roasts.  You know what the coolest thing about subscription boxes like this is?  You really do learn a little bit about yourself as you imbibe.  For example, I would consider ourselves dark roast peeps.  Not like we discriminate against other coffee varieties, but if I had to choose, I’d probably put us in the dark roast category.

WRONG!  We like Medium roasts just as much.  And, we might not have figured that out if we didn’t have all of these fun coffees to taste!

I'm reviewing the amazing Bean Box coffee subscription on the blog!So far, we’ve enjoyed the CAFFE VITA Peru La Convencion, the BROADCAST COFFEE ROASTERS Johnson House Blend,  and the LADRO ROASTING Queen Anne Blend.  The Queen Anne was good, but that’s all…good.  We drank it.  We liked it. But we weren’t wowed by it.  I think I was expecting more fig?

The Peru La Convencion and the Johnson House Blend were both equally sweet, smooth and what I may dub, the yummiest in all the land.I'm reviewing the amazing Bean Box coffee subscription on the blog!

HOW MUCH?  HOW MUCH?

Bean Box offers two coffee subscriptions to chose from…

  • The coffee subscription plan I tried was the Bean Box Sampler, which came with (4) – 1 ounce bags of whole coffee beans to grind, brew and enjoy.  This subscription costs $20 bucks per month (only $18 per month of you pre-pay for 6 months or $17 per month if you pre-pay for one year). Get the box
  • They also offer a Coffee of the Month subscription which allows you to receive (1) – 12 oz bag for $23 per month, two bags per month (one every two weeks) for $41 per month or one bag per week for $78 per month. Get the box

Best part?  If you find a flavor you love so much and want to purchase a 12 oz. bag of beans, you can via the online coffee shop.  I’m pretty sure these guys have thought of everything.

COFFEE BOX VERDICT?

Yes, Bean Box.  I accept your invitation to become best friends and drink your coffee forever and ever.  I will dissolve all previous best friendships to make ours legit. Love, me.
