Does your child have a better wardrobe than you? I swear sometimes I’m putting my daughters clothes away while simulatneously praying for a size 3T body so I could share all of her best outfits. Anyway, at some point after three very long days of childbirth I found a new shopping obsession even greater than the one I had before I was officially with child. And it’s all about kids clothes. And, it’s bad. Bad news bears.
But, guess what? I can’t go shopping for kid stuff. I have a three year old. And,shaving years off my life in a kids clothing store is not an option. If you’ve ever been shopping with us you know how atrocious that experience can be. We’re talking DEFCON 1 people.
So, when I heard of Kidbox I was stoked about two things – (a) they were adding years to my life by picking out fab kids clothes and doing the shopping for me; and (b) my daughter would have a stylest probably way more versed in three-nager fashion than I.
Kidbox sends seasonal personalized style boxes packed with the coolest brands for your kids (boys, girls & toddler size 2-14). Each box includes 6-7 (avg cost of $14 per item). No subscription fee, you pay for what you keep. Whenever you keep the whole box, they will commit a donation of new clothes to children in needy families. Pay for what you keep! - Saves time for mom and dads (yes)
- Introduces you to brands you may have never tried (yes, yes)
- Covenience of shopping in your own home (I can’t stress how magical this is)
- Helps teach your kiddos the importance of giving back! For every box they sell, they donate new clothes to a child in need (love!!!). When you keep a whole box, you can sit down with your kiddo and select a charity together. I just seriously love that.
If only they could send a tiny human wrangler who would assist in the “trying on” process. Are ya with me parents of toddlers? Cheetah speed. Gumby Body. Super tude. Kill me know. Okay, let’s talk fashion.

OUR FAB NEW KIDS CLOTHES
Um, how adorable is this packaging. I love how kid-friendly everything is, from the outer box to the goodies inside. Each package comes with a super fun and colorful packet filled with crayons, stickers and a return address label (I’ll get to that in a second). If you’re keeping the box, you could totally have the littles decorate the inside and turn it into something magnificant (my daughter turns every box into a “big digger” or “puppy bed”).
And, there’s even a personalized note from my daughter’s new stylest, Megan (… hai girl…haiiiiii) who noted that the box was filled with lightweight and colorful styles, perfect for summer heat and outdoor playtime.
We received two packets of clothing, wrapped in super fun tissue paper (If you follow my blog, you know I love a brand that cares about the fine details as much as I do). And, in each packet was a bunch of kids clothes…really, really cute ones.
At first look I was surprised by how many articles of clothing were in the box! I thought their might be two outfits, but FOUR? Woazers…and, yey!
Outfit #1: Lucky Brand Clara Short Set. Retail: $46 (Kidbox price: $35).
This outfit was adorable. Flowly little boho top with embroidery and chambray shorts with detailing on the legs. I asked for 3T because my daugher is at that “could be a 2t, 3t or still in 24m” stage, so these were a bit big. The only con to this outfit was the guaze fabric. I find whenever I wash something gauzy of my own it shrinks even when hung to dry (like shrinks to Barbie size, and I DO NOT have those mesaurements). I guess in this case it could be a good thing!
The other, is the color. Oh, sweet white. How perfect you are when a sleeping child is wearing you. Buuuuut, my kid plays in dirt. She goes outside looking like a person and comes back inside looking like a mud pie. We’ll reserve this outfit for events and parties. What a ham this kid is.
Outfit #2: Art + Eden Girls Print Dress. Retail: $33 (Kidbox price: $24).
Super cute. Super love. Super twirly. Also white. Are you trying to give me heart palpations Megan? This will most definately be worn on those days we’re flying kites in fields of cotton balls.
Outfit #3: Design History Girls HiLo Tank. Retail: $48 (Kidbox price: $36) + 7 For All Mankind Girls Dark Wash Skinny Jeans. Retail: $65 (Kidbox price: $32.50).
Remember when I was talking about shrinking my body down to toddler size so I could share outfits with my three year old? This would be one of them.
Did I mention she starts pre-school in the Fall? Sniff….sniff. And also, this was about the time our photo shoot started going south.
Outfit #4: Jessica Simpson Girls Printed Dress. Retail: $40 (Kidbox price: $28).
Oh, sweet jesus Megan…more white! Can you even though? The details on this top and bloomers are to die for.
Seriously, though. Love this. I am one of those rebel mama’s who is not afraid to throw a white top or dress on my little lass. Again, I do this on days she’s not going to be running around the backyard or scaling the slide at the playground, but little outfits like this are perfect for special trips, events and indoor stuff where all markers and berries are locked away.
WHAT’S IT GONNA COST
I have to say Kidbox is unlike any of the other boxes I’ve tried (so far). You sign up for free and receive a box of goodies (like the one above) to have your kid try on (for free). And, you only pay for what you keep. Most boxes like this have a styling fee that you get charged if you choose not to keep anything. Not Kidbox. They’re rockin’ it. Seriously.
Kidbox is best suited for 2-14 year old boys and girls and little babes 0-24 months. If you keep the whole box (approximately 6-8 items), you pay $98 bucks. If you keep the whole Baby box (approximately 5 items), you pay $58 bucks.
Boxes ship seasonally and you always have the option of opting out of a box without penalty.
WOULD I KIDBOX AGAIN?
I would. Despite all of the white, I absolutely loved the little outfits my daughter received. And, they aren’t anything I would have picked myself. Since we are outdoors all the time regardless of season, I tend to gravitate towards cheap staples that could get stained and holey and gross. But, I always feel like I’m lacking those adorable pieces you always wish you had for special days and playdates.
For name brand clothing shipped seasonally you can’t go wrong. You’re saving an average of $150 per box (big kids) or $67 per box (babes). And, I mean…kids clothes are not cheap and they go through them SO fast, any type of savings (that also allows you to watch your kid try on clothes while you sit on the couch sipping an espresso) is pure magic.
The fact that every time you purchase a box you’re helping to clothe a child in need (possibly four kiddos if you grab a box per season) is the icing on the cake.
Let me know if you’re loving them too 🙂
