I recently had a brand new shaving experience after 30-ish years of shaving. And, I have to say it was rather pleasing to my shaving regions.
I don’t know about you, but shaving is the most annoying thing on the planet. I just hate it. Like, really, really don’t like it. I think I despise it so, because its hard to get a perfect shave. You know – no nicks, no razor burn, etc. It’s a process – one I wish I didn’t have to do sometimes.
To be fair to shaving, I could wax and I’ve entertained lasering, but I can barely make time to use the bathroom in private, so when I have any time to myself for you know…”things”, it’s usually reserved for things that don’t require me to leave my house. #priorities.

Anyway – I recently received a box of goodies to try from Fat and the Moon. I first mentioned them a couple of weeks ago on my Instagram stories and in a cruelty-free beauty round-up post and I’m STOKED to have had the opportunity to test some of their products myself!
The first item I tested (and the reason for this here post) is the Olive and Clay Shave Cream. It was what got me most excited about this brand because I had never heard of or thought of shaving with clay before.
With ingredients like Olive Oil, Aloe Vera, and Shea Butter (among others) I figured it would be a win. And apparently, Rhassoul Clay, not only soothes the skin, “clinical studies and testing on Rhassoul found that it can increase skin elasticity, even skin tone, reduce blemishes and blackheads, and reduce skin dryness or flakiness“. Boom, done.
Since my skin is SO sensitive I first tested it on my lower legs to make sure it didn’t produce immediate razor burn. When it didn’t and left my legs feeling hella smooth, I braved the underarms slowly…very, very slowly. The result? A super close, clean shave, smooth skin and zero razor burn.
I would use this particular brand over and over again. There was no scent (great for those that have issues with fragrance) and I didn’t have to use a ton of it – a small “serving” (I’m probably using the wrong word here, but whatevs) was enough to get everything all slick and slippery so the razer would slide evenly across my skin without wrecking it.
You can grab a 12oz tub of this lovely little clay cream here for $12 bucks. I’ve always shaved with body wash (don’t tell my dermatologist because she hates when I tell her that), but I would totally rock the clay cream for sure.
Fat and the Moon products are good for the earth and your body – Founder Rachel Budde has built her company around providing handcrafted, herbal body care products to those seeking natural and effective alternatives to chemical-filled products. Love it.
Oh, and PS – I’m still testing out some of the other goodies they sent me, including their Calm Kid Mist, Lil’ Deodorant Cream and Anise and Clove Tooth Cleanse. I’ll keep you posted!
