Raise your hand if every time you step out of the house, you’re lugging around fifty million things. I’m talkin’ keys, extra clothes in case there’s a spill, your water bottle, their water bottle, snacks, snacks for when the snacks run out…the list goes on and on.
Well, I’ve got just one more thing to add to that list, but this one will make car rides with the kiddos a bit easier to handle. Let’s talk podcasts for kids.
PODCASTS FOR KIDS ARE. AWESOME.
The hubs and I are a bit late to the podcast party and just started listening this past year. He’s hooked on Rebel Force Radio (nerd) and Star Wars Minute (nerd, squared) and I’m loving ArmChair Expert(I mean…who doesn’t love Dax and K-Bell?).
The crazy thing is that until recently I had no clue there were tons of amazing podcasts for kids out there too. The idea of playing kid-friendly podcasts in the car instead of Moana on repeat is genius and my new way of getting here to there without wanting to pull out my hair.
Playing a podcast in the car is a great alternative to listening to the same thing over and over and over (and over and over) again. AND, if you find a good one, you’ll be able to focus on the important stuff like the speed limit, other cars, potholes and contorting your body so you can safely get those pretzel fishies into your kiddo’s hand before a DEFCON1 sitch arises.
12 KID-FRIENDLY PODCASTS
The Zebra rounded up a bunch of kid-friendly podcasts, vetted them and sorted them by age for Little Kids, Big Kids & Teenagers. In addition to breaking it down by age group, they’ve shared a brief overview of why kids will love it which makes it easy-peasy to choose which one you want to start with.
From storytelling and sing-a-longs about “dancing pants”, to science, mystery and children’s inspo, this list offers something for all the kids in your car (hopefully all at once…OMG).
Let me know which one(s) you choose in the comments below – I think we’re gonna start with Brains On! and move on to Ear Snacks from there. Happy Monday!
