Guys. You’re gonna want to read this. Before you painfully drop your hubby’s old button down or your fave top into the goodwill pile, check out this amazing Mom who is creating adorable kids clothing with your old duds.
UPCYCLED KIDS CLOTHING
I am so here for this idea, especially because I am NOT savvy in the sewing room. I mean, if you want me to sew your pants shut, I could probably handle that, but creating an article of clothing my daughter could actually wear and look adorable in? So. Not. Happening.
MEET REFASHIONED MEMORIES
Carli Grant over at Refashioned Memories is taking kids clothing to the next level, by creating pieces that are personal and memorable to the buyer. All you do is send in a sentimental shirt – the button down your hubs wore when he popped the question, your favorite concert tee, granny’s pretty sweatshirt – if it means something to you (or if you just really love it and can’t bear to part with it) it’s perfect for refashioning.
Next, you choose the kids clothing or accessories you want upcycled – rompers, onesies, button downs, bow ties, dresses, tanks, pillows, blankets or passi-clips. Once they receive the shirt you want refashioned, they create and ship your order within two weeks. Prices vary, depending upon the item (anywhere from $20 – $60) and you can subscribe to their newsletter for discounts.
While I wouldn’t call these pieces the most affordable kids clothing you’ll buy this year, I do think the price point is fair considering the novelty and joy in these one-of-a-kind pieces.
I’M HERE FOR IT
I’m donating a ton right now and am definitely going to see if there’s an old shirt we can send in for refashioning. I have an entire bin of “faves” I’m saving for my daughter for when she gets older, but I could totally part with one of them to make her something absolutely adorable! Twirly dress? Romper?
Let me know if you give Refashioned Memories a try and send a pic! Yey!
